When I heard that Global Food Consulting Ltd. was opening an office in Hong Kong, I was very excited. I worked with GFC in London for the Senses of Thailand events at Selfridges in London and also at HIX Restaurant Champagne & Caviar Bar in 2011.
My experience with them was fabulous and they consistently deliver creative and innovative ideas. I think a firm like GFC coming into the Asian market is due to such a fast-evolving culinary scene here in Asia.
I have found Asia, specifically Southeast Asia and India, so receptive to new restaurants, concepts, and events. An example of the proliferation of culinary events and innovative concepts is Singapore’s Asian Masters event (www.asianmasters.com.sg). This is the second time the event has been held showcasing all Asian talent and cuisine – very inspirational and something I would expect we will see more of the all over the region.
In the past few years, I have been fortunate to open several thriving restaurants in the Asia, including Hyde & Seek Gastro Bar – Thailand’s first gastro pub – and KOH by Ian Kittichai – my 3rd signature Thai restaurant- in Mumbai. This December 2011, I am opening my flagship Thai restaurant and lounge, Issaya Siamese Club, in Bangkok. I am also in development to open a “nose-to-tail” concept restaurant called Smith in Bangkok in 2012. For more updates and information please go to www.iankittichai.com.
The f&b industry in Asia is moving fast and it is an exciting time to be here!
